Mrs. Emma Cecil Ritter Langford was born February 5, 1913 in the Buncombe Community of Panola County, Texas. She was the oldest of five children born to the marriage of Green Franklin and Johnnie Ethel Hudson Ritter. She was raised and attended schools in Buncombe and Gary graduating from Carthage High School in 1931. Mrs. Langford married Buford Langford on January 7, 1935 in Gary, Texas and celebrated 60 years together before he preceded her in death in November of 1995. She was a devoted mother, grandmother who enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading her Bible. She was the oldest living member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Cecil was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Alvis Ritter and sisters, Nello Graves, Evalyn Griffith and Ruth Sistrunk.
Mrs. Langford is survived by her devoted daughters, Jo Ann Hancock and husband Calvin of Carthage, Jeanette Lake and husband Troy of Gary, six grandchildren, Janet Humber and husband Greg of Tyler, Donna Williams and husband John of Avery, Beth Strain and husband Steve of Longview, Dwain Lake of Baytown, Marian Rushton of Carthage, David Hancock and wife Renee of Georgetown, seven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Dwain Lake, David Hancock, Greg Humber, John Williams, Steve Strain, Phillip Humber, Jacob Rushton, Trey Williams, Chris Sanford, Eric Harris, John Minter and Brooks Hancock, honorary pallbearer will be Troy Lake.
