Marvin T. Sanders 1926 - 2016
JACKSONVILLE, IL - Marvin T. Sanders, 89, of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born September 18, 1926 in Maryland Heights, MO the son of Marvin and Esther Gill Sanders. He married Loretta Davis on December 10, 1949 and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2005.
He is survived by five sons, Marvin D. (wife, Cheryl) Sanders of Springfield, Dennis (wife, Teresa) Sanders and Jerry (wife, Juanita) Sanders both of Jacksonville, Jack (wife, Melissa) Sanders of Bluffs and Kevin Sanders of Springfield; one daughter, Marcia Rohn of Springfield; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Coral Spradlin (surviving husband, Roy of Springfield); one great-grandson, Leo Sanders-Molt and one sister, June Storms.
Mr. Sanders had been employed at Anderson-Clayton in Jacksonville for 33 years as a pipe insulator. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was later sent to Korea. He was a member of VFW Post 1379 in Jacksonville. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching football.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the VFW Post 1379 in Jacksonville.
