Scott Moore
(April 4, 1964 - June 21, 2014) Duane Scott Moore, 50, of Highsplint, went home to join his Mother and Father Saturday, June 21, 2014, due to unexpected complications from a prior illness. Born April 4, 1964, he was a lifelong resident of Harlan County. Scott was a former Kentucky State Police Trooper, a First Lieutenant of the Harlan Co. Rescue Squad, a Past Master of Yocum Lodge #897, and a former member of the Scottish Rites and Shriners. He was a very loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother and uncle and was always very involved in their lives. He believed in the Christian faith.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Moore and Vivian Short Moore; a brother, Ricky Lee Moore; a brother-in-law, Gene Ball; and a niece, Kim Cupp Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Lindsey Parker Moore, Highsplint; three children, Scotty Moore, Evarts; Sam Moore and Ricky Lee Moore, both of Highsplint; one brother, Bill Moore and wife, Vickie, Kenvir; and five sisters, Shirley Cupp and husband, Marion, Morrow, OH; Brenda Ball, Fairfield, OH; Elaine Wheeler and husband, Chester, Blandchester, OH; Shelia Woodward and husband, Johnny, Georgetown, KY; and Kathy Bundy and husband, Bob, Chagrin Falls, OH.

Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendell and Kathy Parker, Closplint; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John Wesley and Wendy Parker; nieces and nephews, Bruce Cupp, Stacy Ball, Gene Ball II, Samantha Montag, Kellye Woodward Olson, Tanya Carr, Dana Miller, Billy Moore, Josh Bundy, Stephen Bundy, Kristina Bundy, Alyssa Adams, Austin Adams, Jayde Parker, Parker Eads and Courtney Campbell; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters in the Kentucky State Police and the Harlan County Rescue Squad and their families; as well as a host of other family and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 11 am in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend James Sanders and the Reverend Buddy Simpson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith with graveside services being performed by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard and Masonic Last Rites by the Yocum Lodge #897 who will also serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kentucky State Police and the Harlan County Rescue Squad.

Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of his arrangements.
