Gerald Krause, age 89 of Rockford, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Gerald George Krause was born June 7, 1926 in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the son of George Henry and Clarice (Ruesink) Krause.
Gerald was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Goodwin, South Dakota.
On November 2, 1947 Gerald George Krause and Rose Ann Rydbom were joined in marriage at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. The two were blessed with seven children.
After farming in South Dakota, the family moved to Greenfield, Minnesota in 1965 and in 1970 moved to Rockford, Minnesota. Jerry worked at Time Savers before attending Dunwoody College for Appliance Repair. After college, Jerry started Krause Appliance Repair.
Jerry was a faithful member of Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford, Minnesota where he was a Church Elder.
Jerry enjoyed fishing and grouse hunting, trips to the casino, family campouts, and traveling with Rose Ann in their motorhome –even riding down the Grand Canyon on mules. He also enjoyed his daily morning coffee club with “the guys” at Rockwell’s Cafe in Rockford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Clarice Krause; son, George Henry Krause; and daughter, Rosella Mae Krause.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Krause; children, LeWayne (Patti) Krause, Michael (Margie) Krause, Dennis (Dianne) Krause, Cynthia (Kurt) Kessler, Gregory (Paula) Krause; grandchildren, Brandon Krause, Brent Krause, Jason Schaefer, Dustin (Tammy) Krause, Heather (Chris) Cummings, Jaime (Tim) Schendel, Jared Krause, Matthew (Jill) Kessler, Alex (Jessica) Kessler, Todd (Jordan) Kessler, Melissa Krause, Molly Krause; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Hayley, Grace, Madison, Madelyn, Garrett, Oliver, Henry, Abigail, Esther; sisters, Carol Jane, Myrene, Luann, Janice; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford. Further visitation will be held Monday at 1:00 PM until the time of services at church. Funeral services for Jerry Krause will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford with Pastor Michael Barlow as officiant. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.
Casket bearers will be Jason Schaefer, Dustin Krause, Matthew Kessler, Alex Kessler, Todd Kessler and Jared Krause.
