Employed by the New York Central System for 48 years, he retired in 1950.
Survivors are his wife, Hedvig, two grandchildren, Maxine Whitney of Farmington, NM and Gerald Kujala of Geneva; one brother, Arnold of Ashtabula; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Aunela of Ashtabula and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Martin E. and 1961 and Wiljo in 1970.
