He died at Broadfield Manor, Madison and had been ill for several months.
He was born April 29, 1884 in Jalasjarvi, Finland and had been a resident of Ashtabula at 422 W. 26th St. for 67 years.
Employed by the New York Central System for 48 years, he retired in 1950.
Survivors are his wife, Hedvig, two grandchildren, Maxine Whitney of Farmington, NM and Gerald Kujala of Geneva; one brother, Arnold of Ashtabula; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Aunela of Ashtabula and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Martin E. and 1961 and Wiljo in 1970.
