Graveside memorial services for Richard Neil Ham, 65, of Poulsbo, WA. will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, a 200 P.M. at Evergreen Cemetery in MInco.
Services will be officiated by Keith Ingram of Minco, First Baptist Church under the direction of Huber- Reynolds funeral Home.
Richard was born December 23, 1949, in Hobbs New Mexico to Laneer and Edna Jean (Wegener) Ham. He died October 24, 1915.
During his youth Rick lived ant attended schools in Hobbs, NM; Tulsa, OK; Denver, CO; London England; Pittsburg, PA; and Los Angles, CA, as his father was transferred to many locations with Gulf Oil Corporation.
Ric graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbra with a Master's Degree in Education. For over 35 years , Rick was an elementary school teacher who inspired confidence and a love of reading in his students, "Mr. Ham" was described by many students as being one of their most influential teachers. He was a past Washington Education Association Board Director.
During his young adult life, Rick enjoyed rock and mountain climbing and was a white water river guide in California. Rick was a voracious reader with a curious intellect for learning new things coupled with a good sense of humor and wit. He loved his family, was proud his niece's accomplishments and visited his family in Oklahoma often.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother Jean Ham. He is survived by his father Laneer Ham of Tulsa; sister Susan Oyler and husband Barry of Tulsa; nieces Elizabeth Galegar and husband Curtis of Owasso and Kristen Fennema and husband Gary of Tulsa and good friends for Poulsbo, Amy Beth Fisher and Bob Webb.
