He graduated from Moroni High School, attended Snow College and graduated from the University of Utah in Mechanical Engineering.

He married Evelyn Jensen on September 29, 1950.

He loved and served his country during World War II for three years, completing two campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe as a forward observer in field artillery.

Craig worked with the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs for over 40 years and was an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He loved scouting and working with the boys.
