Eugene Jones
Eugene Jones, 82-year-old prominent retired farmer, who died at 10:20 o'clock last night at his home, 912 West Walnut, was born in Cedar county, and was a farmer for a number of years in the Clear Creek vicinity. He was a member of the South Street Christian Church and of the Modern Woodmen of America. He and his wife had observed their 61st wedding anniversary last February 21.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie; two sons, J. W. Jones, superintendant of the south-side postoffice and Dr. Dorsey D. Jones of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville; a brother Charles of Milford, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Phila Bacon of California.
Funeral services will be at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Alma Lohmeyer funeral home with the Rev. Barton A. Johnson, pastor of the South Street Christian church officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Creek cemetery.
Eugene and his two younger siblings were born in Cedar Co., MO, but their parents moved their family to Boone Co., AR, only to have both parents die in 1867. An older half-sister was able to keep the family together until they reached maturity.
Eugene came from Washington Co., AR to Springfield before June 1880 and made it his home.
