Dewey E. Cato, Jr., 84, of Gardendale, Alabama, died on March 29, 2016. He was born on February 16, 1932. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, and his parents, Dewey E. Cato, Sr. and Lida Flora (Barnwell) Cato. He graduated from high school, served in the U.S. Navy, and retired at age 72 after working for more than fifty years. He sang in the adult choir at Orange Hill Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia, as well as at Gardendale's First Baptist Church, where he was a member since 1968, was an ordained deacon, and taught Sunday school. He is survived by four children, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one grandson-in-law, and one sister. Graveside service: 11:00 a.m. April 1, 2016 at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Arrangements: Gardendale Funeral Home, 2214 Decatur Highway, P.O. Box 369, Gardendale, Alabama.
