She was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Phillips, Neb., to Samuel Chester and Gladys Leota Evans Agan, who preceded her in death.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Williams Dickens on Sept. 6, 1955; a sister and brother-in-law, Nola and Howard Dickens; a sister-in-law, Agnes Agan and a brother-in-law, Bill Enfield.
She was a cook with the public school system for many years.
She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Dickens and his wife, Janet, of Centerville, Tenn. and Donald Dickens and his wife, Betty, of Fairborn, Ohio; a daughter, Patty Bonner and her husband, Howard; a brother, Lyman Agan and a sister, Lavena Enfield, all of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; also other relatives.
A graveside service for Gladys LaVern Dickens will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in the Lebanon Cemetery with the Rev. David Scott officiating, under the direction of Shadel's Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shadel's Colonial Chapel.
A memorial has been established to Multiple Sclerosis.
