Joseph Williams Armstrong, Sr., age 92, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at Laurels of Coldwater. He was born February 24, 2016 in Allston, Alabama to Jackson and Florence (Butler) Armstrong of Allston Ala., and moved to central FL, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Navy and served 3 ½ years and was honorably discharged. He married Lorena (Sampson) Armstrong and moved to Albion, MI. To this union, 5 children were born; 3 sons: Joseph Armstrong, Jr., James Armstrong, Al Grover Armstrong; 2 daughters: Gladys (Armstrong) Smith, Debra Richardson; 8 grandchildren; special niece: Evon (Armstrong) Hearron.

Joseph was employed by Albion Malleable Iron Co., Union Steel and Corning Glass for many years. After Corning Glass closed, he was employed by Felpausch Food Store.

He leaves to cherish his memory his 2 daughters, special niece, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by son, Joseph Armstrong, Jr., 3 brothers, Jackson, Robert and Elijah Armstrong and 2 grandsons, Jaison Armstrong and Terrell Butler.

According to Joseph's wishes, cremation will take place and his remains will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI with Military Honors for his honorable service to our country.
