Mary E. Charles, 92, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Muncy.
Born November 6, 1923 in Benton, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. and Laura C. (Moon) Evans. She married the late Howard W. Charles, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1988.
Mary was employed as a LPN at Muncy Valley Hospital, retiring in 1985. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed travelling.
She is survived by a daughter; Cathy (James) Dunkleberger of Linden; two sons, Leslie H. (Betsy) Charles and Robert I. (Norma) Charles both of Hughesville; a twin sister, Marie Hawley of Endicott, NY; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 1 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Rev. Jane L. O'Borski officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday at the funeral home..
