Candy Weinreis, age 51, of Huron, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was Wednesday, March 30th at the Huron Christian Church. Burial was in the Ideal Cemetery.

Candy Kaye Cundy was born February 6, 1965 in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Cliffton and Edna (Estenson) Cundy. She moved to Huron where she grew up. She graduated from Huron High School. Candy met Bill Weinreis in 1981 and they were married on April 17, 1982, at the Methodist Church at Doland. Following their marriage, they lived in North Carolina for three years, and they then returned to South Dakota. To this union came four beautiful children, Derek, Lavin, Drew and Jessalyn.

She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Candy was always willing to help others in need. Her hobbies were camping, bike runs, bingo, and all holiday festivities. She worked in the health care industry for over twenty years. Her most recent career, which ended in 2014 when her health started to decline, was coordinating services for the elderly which brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Edna Cundy; one son, Derek Weinreis; her in-laws, Laverne Weinreis and Phylis (Dean) Bollerslev; and aunts and uncles.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, William "Bill" Weinreis; three children, Lavin Weinreis and her special friend, Chuck Barnett, Drew Weinreis and Jessalyn Weinreis, all of Huron; her sister, Crystal (Arturo) Garcia of Huron; three brothers, Keith Cundy of Huron, Kent Cundy of Box Elder and Chuck Salen of Le Mars, Iowa; her step-mother, Kay Rys of Marshall, Minnesota; her mother-in-law, Jane Weinreis of Doland; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law.
