Portland, Maine - James (Jimmy) S McPhail, 66, of Portland, died suddenly on August 8, 2012 in his home at the Loring House, where he was a long time resident. He was born in Portland on April 22, 1946 to the late Ralph and Sara (Shackford) McPhail.

He grew up on Peaks Island. He loved sitting on the rocks and having the waves splash over his head. On October 27, 1990, he married the love of his life Sandy Osier, where they started their new life together.

Jimmy loved being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Time with his family was precious to him. On sunny summer days, Jimmy would be found outside with his many friends from the Barron Center & Loring House. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Patriots games, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and NASCAR, where his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Jimmy was a passionate Elvis Presley fan as can be seen by the many Elvis memorabilia in his home.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, Ralph and Sara McPhail; brothers Charlie & Robert Walker; daughters Laurie Scribner and Lisa White; granddaughter Marissa White. [Survivors omitted]

Visitation will be held Monday August 13th at the Barron Center Bernstein room, 1145 Brighton Ave, Portland from 2:00 2:30 PM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Barron Center Resident Fund, 1145 Brighton Ave, Portland ME 04102.
