JC was the first child of 5 from Charles and Minnie Bates who are buried along side him. JC was injuried in a logging accident when he was 34 years of age. As a result of this accident he was paralized from the waist down and spent the remainder of his life in the care of his parents. He was engaged to be married at the time of his accident but at his request the engagement was cancelled and he never married.
