Ruben A. Gibson, 72, of Eddy passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at a Waco hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Eddy with the Rev. Jim Gray and the Rev. D.F. Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Mr. Gibson was born in Eddy on Jan. 30, 1929 to Enis A and Florina Beck Gibson. He married Vila Mae Phelps on June 5, 1949, at Eddy First Baptist church. He was employed with Lehigh Portland Cement Co., retiring with 42 years of service. He was a member of United Steel Workers Union and a long time member of Eddy First Baptist Church. He loved animals and music. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Vila Mae Gibson of Eddy; daughters, Vivian Neal of Lorena and June Hallaxs of Battle Creek, Mich.; brother, Clifton Gibson of Robinson; sisters, Audra Herring of Rosebud and Thelma Kincannon of Moody; five granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; and five great-grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Bruceville EMS or Eddy First Baptist Church.
