He arrived in the Colony when a child, with his parents and siblings.

He married Marion Beath GARRICK in 1863, New Zealand.

For the past few years he had been manager of the Old Hauraki mine on the Coromandel, which position he held up till the time of his death.

He died at the Coromandel Hospital and was interred June 2nd, aged 70 years.

In Loving Memory of JOHN beloved husband of Marion Goldsworthy, died 31st May 1907 aged 70 years. "We shall sleep, but not for ever. There will be a glorious dawn. We shall meet to part - no never. On the resurrection morn." ~ Also In Loving Memory of MARION BEATH wife of the above died 11th Nov. 1918, aged 72 years.
Also of JOHN dearly beloved eldest son of the above died 12th July 1921. "With Christ which is far better." (Bouskill)
