Chester T. Morrison, 89, of 37 Seaview Ave., Marblehead, where he had resided for the past 53 years, died at Shaughnessey-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Frank and Luella (Thomas) Morrison. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Merrill) Morrison, to whom he had been married for 52 years.

Morrison began his career with Kidder Peabody in 1929. He was then employed by State Street Bank and Trust Company as vice president, retiring in 1970. After his retirement, he became a consultant with the Investment Trust Company, Boston.

He was a graduate of Swampscott High School, attended the University of New Hampshire, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1926, followed by Harvard Business School in 1929. He was a lifetime member of the First United Church, Swampscott. He was on the board of directors of the New England Home for the Deaf for 25 years, until 1987. He was a member of the Swampscott Historical Society.

He is survived by his sons (typo?), Jay Morrison of Andover, as well as three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 19 in the First United Church, Swampscott. Interment was in Swampscott Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Richardson's Funeral Home, Lynn.
