V irginia Valentine Flaherty age 79 of 1610 Hoover St. in New Holstein died on Tuesday February 21, 2006 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.
She was born February 14, 1927 in Shivley, KY daughter of the late Elishia & Florence (Hogan) Lee. She married Raymond James Hephner on September 6, 1946 in Louisville, KY. Later she married Gordon Flaherty on October 11, 1974 in Waukegan, IL. Gordon preceded her in death on April 12, 2004. During her life, Virginia worked as a telephone operator for Louisville Bell. She later moved to Wisconsin and worked as a nurse in the healthcare industry throughout the area. Virginia was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake and loved to play games and cards, cooking, crocheting, camping, traveling and watching the Kentucky Derby horse races.

Survivors include her children: Barbara Heinen of New Holstein, Michael Hephner of Green Bay, Ramona (Stephan) Ludemann of Green Bay, Debra Roethlar of Hanes City, FL, Donna (Konrad) Phalin of Elkhart Lake Monte Hephner of Sheboygan; 5 step daughters: Karen Wolff, Mary Karls, Pam Laughrin, Lisa Fesing, Cindy Flaherty; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Phyllis (Louis) Jutz of Texas and Susan (Willie) Young of Kentucky. Virginia was also preceded in death by a son: Marcel Hephner; a son-in-law: Emil Roethler; 1 grandchild: Sean Busse; and 7 brothers and sisters: June, Ruth, Laura, Charles, Robert, Thelma and Frank.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 25, 2006 at Wieting Family Funeral Home (1212 Teckla Pl) in Kiel. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11-2:00 PM on Saturday February 25, 2006 when the service will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Virginia V. Flaherty.
