Jack Griffin, Sr., 88, of Clinton, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 3:59 a.m.
Born July 7, 1927, in Clinton, IN, he was the son of Paul and Esther (Whitehead) Griffin.
He married Mary Louise Ward on October 2, 1949, at the St. Bernice First Baptist Church and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2014. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Griffin Dugger.
He was a farmer all of his life and raised cattle. He also worked at DuPont and Anaconda Aluminum prior to going farming full time after 1973.
Survivors include three daughters: Shirley (Mike) Overpeck of Dana; Sandra Gilbert of Terre Haute; Carol Thomas of Seelyville; and one son, Jack Griffin, Jr., of Clinton; four grandchildren, Valerie (Matt) Crouch, Fairview; Darrin (Jennifer) Overpeck of Dana; Gayle Norman of Marshal, IN, and Trey Thomas of Clinton. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one brother-in-law, Noel Dugger of Georgetown, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, at the Frist Funeral Home in Clinton with Pastor Ansil Harpold officiating and burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton. The family will accept friends for visitation on Thursday, March 31, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Frist Funeral Home.
