Mildred Holland Hamm Cowart, 93, of Metter, formerly of Collins, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Candler County Hospital. She was born in the Cedar Creek Community, the daughter of Lester and Mozelle Saturday Holland. Moving to Metter in 2009 from Collins, she had lived in the Cobbtown-Aline area in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Mildred was a great seamstress who enjoyed making doll clothes for her nieces, a homemaker and also worked at a clothing factory in Collins. Enjoying a good laugh, she always had a story to tell.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Palmer Hamm and Gordon Cowart; and a son, Harry “Bootsie” Hamm.

Survivors are nieces and a nephew, Shirley Gable Williams of LeCanto, FL, Marion Oliver Stokes of Baldwin, FL, JoAnn Oliver Fouraker of Bryceville, FL and Billy Oliver of Jacksonville, FL; and a family friend, Sandra Smith Cartee of Collins.

A Memorial service to be announced later will be held with cremain burial in the Collins First Baptist Church Cemetery.
