Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at New Beginnings Church with Pastor Eugene Broom officiating. The burial will follow the funeral service at Lawson Cemetery in Eden and Military honors will be performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard.
Billy was a native of Rockingham County. He was a Vietnam veteran serving his country in the US Navy. Billy was a faithful member of New Beginnings Church and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As a teenager, Billy had the opportunity to work with the Petty family and he actually drove the rig that pulled Richard Petty’s race car. Over the years, Billy was the owner / operator of Carter Mobile Home Movers. He had a fascination and a deep love for farm animals, especially horses and goats. Billy was preceded in death by his father, Otis Carter and his brother, Kenneth Wayne Carter.
Billy is survived by his wife, Treva Shaw Carter of the home; his sons, Billy Carter, Jr. of the home, Brandon Lee Carter and wife, Crystal of Fayetteville, Ronald Wayne Carter and wife, Tonya of Reidsville, Timothy Dwayne Carter and wife, Gina of Eden and Christopher Kevin Carter and wife, Cristy of Dunn; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; mother, Nellie Crouch Carter of Reidsville; brothers, Pastor Jerry Carter and wife, Brenda, John Wayne Carter and Ricky Leon Carter and wife, Melissa all of Reidsville; daughter-in-law, Debbie Moore; adopted son, Matt McNeely and a large extended family. He also leaves behind his Yorkie and special companion, Bull.
