David R. Sheldahl, 83, of Milan, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church. Burial will follow in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
David was born on June 20, 1932 in Huxley, Iowa, a son of Howard and Matilda Fatland Sheldahl. He married Patricia Wingert on September 20, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Sheldahl worked as an Assistant Analyst at Case IH and retired following 47 years of service.
David was a member of the Eagles, Masons and the High Noon Club. He was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island. David and Pat both enjoyed square and round dancing. David was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed watching all kinds of sports.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia; children, Diane (Kevin) Moyer, Plymouth, MN and David M. (LeeAnn) Sheldahl, West Liberty, Iowa; grandsons, Ben (Jennie) Sheldahl, Wilton, Iowa and Colin Sheldahl, West Liberty, Iowa; great grandchildren, Tyler, Madyson and Wyatt; and a sister, Helen (Ray) Crowe, Cassville, MO
David was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Amanda, JoAnn, Esther, Vivian, Hubert and Everett.
