Born in Lynchburg, Va., on January 3, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Effie Mason and Charles Blanks. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, a 1974 graduate of Longwood College, a former English teacher at Appomattox County Middle School, and a proofreader at Meredith-Burda.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri Hancock Linn and Andrew of Lynchburg and Gina Hancock Franklin and Ryan of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Haisten, Judson, Chandler, and Maya; a sister, Angie Stimpson and husband, Gray of Brookneal; and two brothers, Bruce Blanks and wife, Janet of Brookneal and Lloyd Blanks of Altavista. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
