Actress. During the course of her more than forty-year career, she played in a wide range of roles and worked with such notable directors as Otto Preminger, Sir David Lean and Stanley Kubrick. Born Adrienne Riccoboni, to parents of Italian descent, she studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and made her professional debut as a performer on the London stage in 1948. She mark her motion picture debut with "Naughty Arlette" (1949) and followed this with "The River" (1951). In 1952, she shared the Broadway stage with Basil Rathbone in the production "Jane". During the remainder of the decade, she had roles of substance in the pictures "The Surgeon's Knife" (1957) and "Corridors of Blood" (1958) which led to her performances in the high-profile films "Sword of Lancelot" (1963), "Bunny Lake Is Missing" (1965), "Doctor Zhivago" (1965) and "The Viking Queen" (1967). Among her other film credits include "A Clockwork Orange" (1971, in which she plays the victim Mrs. Alexander, who is violently raped by a gang of thugs), the Hammer picture "Vampire Circus" (1972), "Madhouse" (1974), "Revenge of the Pink Panther" (1978) and "The Human Factor" (1979). Among her extensive TV credits include "Secret Agent", "UFO", "Doctor Who" and "Lovejoy". She was formerly married to actor Daniel Massey.
