Johnny Travis George, 54, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2006, in his home.

He was born July 25, 1952, in Carlisle, and was a graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, as a car inspector/repairman, after 28 years of service.

Mr. George served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of The Amvets Post #286, VFW Post #1213, The American Legion Post #998, The Vehovay Home Association, and the 40&8 Club.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dolly Smith, and his brother, Gary Warner.

He is survived by his wife, Nanette M.George; his two daughters, Johnna and Tammra George; his son, Travis George, all of Harrisburg; two stepchildren, Chad Goodsell and Amy Sparks; four sisters, Patsy Kuntz and her husband, Larry of Camp Hill, Judith Bookwalter and her husband, Richard of Harrisburg, Ruth Bikle and her husband, Mike of Hagerstown, MD, and Susan Hiltner and her husband, John of Carbondale, CO; his brother, Joseph Warner of Harrisburg; three grandsons, two granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at 5 p.m., in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Curtis Weber officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., prior to the service. www.neillfuneralhome.com
