TUSCALOOSA - LM Hayes died peacefully on March 24th, 2016, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at the age of 79, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Hayes; his sons, Sonny (Kim) and Danny (LeSenya) Hayes; and daughters, Renae (Ricky) Sullivan and Candi Hayes. LM was born on December 6, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to his father, Malcolm and mother, Mary Lucilee "LuLu" Hayes. He grew up in a large family with four brothers and four sisters. LM is survived by his wife and children, as well as his grandchildren, Stevie Phelps Jr., Leah Deramus and Heath and Bailey Hayes; and great- grandchildren, Kalob and Ayden Phelps, Luepold and Walther Deramus, and unborn great- grandchild of Heath and Danielle Hayes. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Christopher Pendley. A private graveside burial was held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Big Hurricane Baptist in Brookwood, Ala. LM, better known as "Pop", will always be remembered for his quick one liner comebacks, his passion for cars and driving fast and his collection of many things.
