SAVANNAH, Mo.—Lela Viola (Laird) Jaskins, 93, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Thursday. April 4, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Hornbuckle, in Savannah.
Mrs. Haskins retired from the former Whitaker Cable Corp. in St. Joseph in 1969.
Born in Gravity, Iowa, on April 15, 1908, she lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Haskins was a member of the Copeland Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darcy; a son, Darcy; parents, John and Bessie Laird; and five brothers and two sisters.
Additional survivors: two sons, Ralph, Southgate, Calif., and Jack, Perris, Calif.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Mount Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
