Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Irene Cole.
Survivors include his children, Douglas Keith Cole (Debbie) and Beverly Ann Stephens (Dennis) as well as his four grandchildren, Graham Douglas Cole (Melissa), Ryan Jennings Cole, Morgan Cole Stephens and Andrew Connor Stephens. Other survivors include a great grandchild, Ashlynn Rose Stephens, all of Lexington, KY
In addition to his wife and parents, Lee Roy was also preceded in death by siblings, Vernon J. Cole and Virginia Kay Sharp. He is survived by siblings, Lucy Mae Smith of Kingsport, TN, Letha Coffey of McKee, KY and Shirley Medlock of Sarasota, FL.
Lee Roy graduated as valedictorian from McKee High School in May, 1944. He entered the US Army in January, 1946 where he served a year in the US occupation Army in Germany. Funeral service 3:00PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home with Ray Cole, Carloyn Pennington, Leon Coffey, Elizabeth Cole, J. Todd Dockery and Fred Brandon speaking. Burial will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery. Pallbearers were Graham Cole, Ryan Cole, Morgan Stephens, Andrew Stephens, Keith Summers & Kent Summers. Honorary pallbearers were Leon Coffey, Danny Coffey, Phillip Cole, Charlie Cole, Jeff Smith, Joel Sharpe & Ben Sharpe. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
