The eldest son of Edward and Gabriella Foster, he was born in Santa Cruz in 1868. After graduating from the Chesnutwood Business college, which was located in the old Hihn building on the corner of Pacific and Walnut avenues, Foster was timekeeper for the Ocean Shore railroad when it was building its line up the coast. Active in many local projects, he was a member of the Elks and Native Sons.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Haslam, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two brothers, Walter C. of Santa Cruz and Theodore E. of San Francisco.
Private services will be conducted by Rev. M. G. Nicola at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Wessendorf chapel. Private cremation will follow in the IOOF crematory.
