Judy was a 1967 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and had taken various courses at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for her state certification in the state education system. Judy was a child nutrition manager for Kannapolis City Schools after thirty years of service having been started at McKnight School, then Fred L. Wilson Elementary School, and finally at Kannapolis Middle School until her retirement. She was an active member of Charity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, and in previous years was active at Lakewood Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, GA leader, Vacation Bible school leader at various times, homecoming committee, and the benevolence committee. Her family strongly remembers her love for the Lord and her family
