The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Edgemoor ARP, with the Rev. Allen Derrick officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Simpson was a son of the late Mills B. Simpson Sr. and Ella Kennington Simpson. He was a retired plant engineer with Springs Industries, a Mason, a member of the Richburg Lodge 89, Biscoe Lodge 437 in Biscoe, N.C., and the York Rite Bodies of South Carolina. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School, attended Clemson University and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Trudy Hill Simpson; two sons, John Wesley Simpson of New Jersey and James Mills "Jay" Simpson of Greenville; two daughters, Robin Simpson Corn of Ocala, Fla., and Tracy Simpson Channell of Rock Hill; two brothers, Francis Simpson of Rock Hill and James Simpson of Richburg; his sister, Martha Simpson Waldrop of Edgemoor; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with Masonic rites at 6:30 p.m.
