Obituary of Frances L. (Bryant, McCall) Murr, copied from an unknown newspaper.

A TRIBUTE TO GRANDMA.
Mrs. Fannie Murr was born March 18, 1836, in the state of Illinois, and died July 1, 1922, at the home of her daughter,Mrs. Ellen Evans, of Eunice, Texas county, Mo.
She was first married to Smith McCall, of Illinois. To this union were born five children. During the Civil war she was left a widow. She endured many hardships, but provided for and kept her children together. Later she married James Murr, and to this union were born five children.

After her second marriage they moved to Texas county, Missouri, first settling in the west part of the country. About the year of 1890 they moved to Big Creek to what has since then been their old home place.
She was converted in her early days and afterwards united with the Free Will Baptist church at Big Creek.

The life of Grandma Murr has been an inspiration to her innumerable friends and acquaintances. She was one of the most devoted companions and mothers in her home; no deed of kindness or helping hand was withheld by her as long as her physical strength would permit. Her Christian influence cannot be estimated. The family Bible was her daily companion and her Christian spirit was never known to waver.

Since the death of her husband her strength has gradually failed and for the past three years she has been very feeble, often remarking that she wanted to leave this world, for she knew there was a crown of richness laid up for her at the right hand of God.
Just a week before her death her son, Alfred Murr, with whom she was making her home, took her to Eunice for a few days to visit. She was suddenly taken serious and the children summoned. Most of them arrived before her death.
She was tenderly laid to rest in a beautiful white casket and robe by the side of her companion and son, Noah Murr, in the Big Creek cemetery. Rev. Charles L. Brashear, of Raymondville, conducted the funeral in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends.

Thus ends the earthly life of a noble woman. May the remaining members of the family so live that the circle will not have a missing link in the world to come.

She is preceded to the better world by her companion and two children, Noah Murr and Mrs. John Murr. She leaves to mourn their loss eight children:
Mrs. Fred Freeman, Mountain Grove, Mo.;
Rev. James McCall, Norwood, Mo;
Marion McCall, Fowler, Mo.;
C.C. McCall;
Mrs. James Evans, Eunice, Mo.;
Mrs. John Coffman, Norwood, Mo.;
A.J. Murr, Dent, Mo.;
W.A. Murr, Eunice, Mo.;

also three step-children, Mrs. Will Coffman, Mountain Grove, Mo.;
Mrs. John Adams, Astoria,Mo., and Joe Murr.

If we walk in the pathway of duty,
If we work till the close of the day,
We shall see the great King in His beauty,
When we've gone the last mile of
the way.

Here the dearest of ties we must sever,
Tears of sorrow are seen every day;
But no sickness, no sighing forever,
When we've gone the last mile of
the way.
Her Grand-daughter,
CARRIE MURR.
