She was born in Bryson City, North Carolina, on September 10, 1923. Freda attended Mississippi State College for Women.
She was the wife of Col. (Ret.) Robert A. Bennett, who passed away in November 2015. They had been married for 71 years. Freda devoted her life to raising their children and supporting her husband during his 30-year military career.
Freda’s parents, Harley and Sallie Hoyle, and her sister, Mildred Pegg, preceded her in death.
Her survivors are her sister, Harlena Reynolds; her daughter, Lee; her son, Bob; and two grandchildren, Jason Sherry and Tara Bennett. Freda and her husband were long-time residents of Maryville after their retirement and had been active in local charities and politics.
Arrangements are being made for Freda and Robert to join together in a combined ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
