She was born on June 7, 1918 in New Guilford, Ohio to the late Harry and Golden (Donaker) Wheeler. She was a sixty five year member of Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon and recently a returning member with her dear sister Betty of her childhood Church, Grace United Methodist Church in Coshocton. Annabelle retired as the owner of Ann’s Beauty Shop on Vincent Road, Mount Vernon. She was a fifty plus year member of the Rake & Hoe Garden Club in Howard; a sixty five plus year member of the Ohio Eastern Star; served as a Cub Scout Den Mother; chaperon to the East Knox Class of ’65; Mount Vernon Poetry Club member; Red Hatter and a very good friend to many. She was previously employed at Wise Jewelry in Mount Vernon and was an exceptional baker of cakes for the Church. She loved gardening, keeping both her farm house and city house in order and raising her family.
She is survived by her children Charles “Chuck” Barcus, Carlanna (Larry) Campbell, George (Annette) Barcus; her former daughter-in-law Sharon Mast and Theresa (Terry) Barcus; five grandchildren Keri Campbell, Tracey Grenkoski, Juli Williams, Ashley R.C. Barcus, Bradley F.L. Barcus; five great-grandchildren Kyle Flood, Tim Flood, Makayla Peterson, Parker Williams, Aiden Williams; her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Good; her niece Harriett Kleinknecht; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Besides her parents, Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her great-granddaughter Mackenzie; her granddaughter Kelly; her brother Archie Wheeler; and her sisters Garnet, Ruby and Hester.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home (619 E. High Street, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, 43050). A service will follow beginning at 7PM with Mr. Roger Marra officiating. Burial will take place on Friday at Rocky Fork Cemetery near Fallsburg on Rt. 79 (12969 Technigles Road N.E., Newark, Ohio, 43055) beginning at 2 p.m.
