Carl Vance Age 93, of Peach Orchard Rd, Hector, NY, died Friday July 25th, 2003 at Seneca View S.N.F. in Montour Falls, NY. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea (William) Burnside, Whittier, CA; stepdaughter, Diane (Larry Leis) Dunlap, Raleigh, NC; stepson, Timothy (Stacia Newell) Dunlap, Hector, NY; brothers, David L. Smith, Baltimore, MD, and Donald (Betty) Smith, Venice, FL; sister, Virginia Knapp, Horseheads, NY, and several nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his first wife Vivian Clust in 1980, and second wife Marylee Smith in 1999. Carl was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corp. He worked for Shepard Niles, and later retired from Bell and Howell in Pasadena, CA as a research technician. Carl enjoyed 20 years in California, but returned to Schuyler County to be on the family farm in 1968 to follow his love for the outdoors. Friends are invited to call Monday, July 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen, NY. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Hector Presbyterian Church, Rev. Cynthia Harvey officiating. Burial with military honors at Seneca Union Cemetery, Valois, NY. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hector Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of one's choice in his name.
