David A. Hausfeld died at home on Saturday, August 27, 2011. He was born April 1, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wis. to Henry and Ellen (Peterson) Hausfeld.

David served as a B-17 bombardier for the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and was a POW at Stalag Luft 1 in Stendal near the Baltic Sea in Germany. After the war he worked and retired from Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He was a former Boy Scout leader and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.

He married the former Alma Ries Correvau in Menominee, Michigan on February 4th, 1960. He is survived by wife of 51 years, nine children: Carol (Clark) Brenner of Sun Prairie, WI; Janet Fairchild of Fitchburg, Holly Hanson of Two Rivers, WI; Penny (Walter) Knigge of Racine, WI; Peter Hausfeld of Peshtigo, WI; Mindy Finstad of Green Bay, WI; Marielle (Ralph) Huebner of Shawano, WI; Jenny (Jason) Hetcher of Waukesha, WI and Christian (Jodi) Hausfeld of of Appleton, WI; 14 grandchildren: Marielle, Jason, Richard, Christopher, Amanda, Westin, Morgan, Byron, Samantha, Nathaniel, Gabriel, Abigail, Joshua and Ethan; and two great-grandchildren: Cody and Madison.

Preceded in death by one daughter Patricia Garon; two sisters: Nancy Hausfeld and Mary Geniesse and two son-in-laws: Patrick Fairchild and Steve Hanson.

Cremation has been accorded.
