Alexander Cheyne was born before 10 February 1793, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Sessions, Parish of Rathen, 1770-1800, Feb 10, 1793 - ' Sef's met Comp'o Ch'n Henderson, an unmarried woman, and laid a Child to the charge of Wm. Cheyne, an unmarried man, who having Comp'd, owned the Charge and both were reproved and dismissed. Penalty from Wm. Cheyne 9s.'1. He was the son of William Cheyne and Christian Henderson.He was christened in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland on 9 June 1793 at Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.
