PORTSMOUTH - Sylvia Louise Cooper, 94, of Portsmouth went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2016 in Wheelersburg.

She was born June 8, 1921 in Portsmouth to Bernie and Lena (Martin) Montgomery. Sylvia was a homemaker who, in addition to raising children, was a talented artist and seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Thea Jayne Riggs of Wheelersburg; one sister, Georgetta Craft of New Boston; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren including Staci, Shane, and Lacey, and many great-great-grandchildren including Jordan and Jasomyn; five step-children and step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Loren Emory DePriest and Paul R. Cooper; one daughter, Lorene DePriest; one son, Bernie DePriest; one sister, Betty Elrod.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
