Randy J. Butler, age 57 of Elwood, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 21, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital after a very sudden illness. He was born March 9, 1959 in Tipton, the son of Robert and Carolyn (Brown) Butler. Randy formerly worked for Pioneer Seed Company in Tipton. He was a 1977 graduate of Tipton High School and later served his country in the U.S. Navy. Randy attended the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Phlox. He was an avid fisherman and loved sports in general. He also enjoyed disc golf, and was an active member of the Edge Disc Golf Club in Elwood. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Randy’s family includes his daughter, Sasha (husband Jeremy) Campbell of Angola; son, Josh Butler of Marion; mother and step-father Carolyn and “Skip” Mohler of Elwood; grandchildren, Conner Campbell, Jocelyn Campbell, and Aiden Butler; brother Nick (wife Genie) Butler of Jonesboro; sister Cindy (husband Rick) Elston of Bluffton; sister-in-law, Lori Butler of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Butler; brother, Terry Butler; and nephew, Shane Butler.
A funeral service celebrating Randy’s life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Rex Dobson officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the funeral in honor of Randy’s U.S. Navy service. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
