He was born July 7, 1930 in Knox County to parents Stanley & Marie (Horn) Atherton.
For most of his life he worked as a farmer.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Atherton of Mount Vernon; sons; step-daughter Patty (Lee) Smith of Butler; grandson Joshua Plenge; five siblings; nieces nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2016 10-11 a.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.
Contributions in Ken’s memory to Snyder Funeral Homes (to assist his family with funeral expenses) may be made at the funeral home.
