Alberta J. “Bertie” (Decker) DeShong, wife of Harry Elmer DeShong of Licking Creek Twp., Fulton Co., died at their home on August 1, 1904, at the age of 33 years. She had been attacked with a violent fit of coughing and, although there was a doctor in attendance, the coughing could not be controlled. She died within two hours.
Mrs. DeShong, a daughter of Baltzer and Emily Jane (Mellot) Decker, was born May 13, 1871, in Licking Creek Twp. She was survived by her husband and their four young children.
She was a consistent member of the M.E. Church. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Dumville, and interment was made in the Asbury United Methodist Cemetery.
