Beatrice Verna Simco December 19, 1930 March 23, 2016 Beatrice Verna Simco, 85, of State College, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College. Born on December 19, 1930, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Alice Jessop Wian. On August 7, 1950, she married Edward T. Simco who preceded her in death on October 20, 1993. She is survived by three daughters: Diane E. Bloom and her husband, Barry, of Warriors Mark; Janet L. Reese, of State College; Donna J. Speck and her husband, Lonnie, of Dunedin, Fla.; and one son, Ronald E. Simco and his wife, Jodi, of Centreville, Va.; two brothers, Charles Wian and his wife, Sara and Hubert Wian and Bonnie Wolfe; as well as one sister, Marjorie Dugan and her husband, Bruce; eight grandchildren, Jason Bloom and his wife, Jennifer, Eric Confer and his wife, Heather, Krista Breon and her husband, Matt, Michelle Conley and her husband, Erik, Nathan Confer and his wife, Jackie, Daniel Harpster and his wife, Maria, Matthew and Nicole Simco; 12 great-grandchildren, Paige and Parker Bloom, Erica Confer, Katelyn and Julie Breon, Madeline, Ryan and Rachael Conley, Drew Confer and Madison, Kayci and Trey Nelson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Wian and his wife, Marjorie. A 1949 graduate of Bellefonte High School, she worked at Penn State until retiring in 1991. She then worked for Brookline Home Care. Bea was a member of the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church. More than anything, Bea enjoyed spending time with family and friends. During her seven years at Brookline, her family became quite extended to include many of the residents and staff with whom she shared love, laughter and card games! In earlier days, she also enjoyed camping and boating. The family would like to thank the staffs of Juniper Village at Brookline and Grane Hospice for the professional and compassionate care that they provided. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St. State College. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Edward J. Preston and Reverend David Hersh officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Grane Hospice Care, 106 Zee Plaza, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or to Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 East Branch Road, State College, PA 16801.
