Stanley Marshall West, 71, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on March 18, 2016, at Alaska Regional Hospital.
Stan was born on Nov. 11, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
He served in the United States Army for nine years before settling in Alaska for the remainder of his life.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hiking, camping and hunting. He was also a very talented cook who had a knack for creating original and delicious meals for his family and friends.
Stan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laura West of Anchorage; his brother, Randy West of Sequim, Wash.; his sister, Susan Newgard of Louisville, Ky.; his daughters, Stephenie West of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Valerie Harlan of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Colleen West of Anchorage; and his six grandsons.
