Originally from Gahanna, Ohio, Melinda was a 1979 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School. She went to work for Food World in Columbus as a secretary where she learned her trade in payroll and served in multiple capacities through the years. She has been the Director of Payroll Operations for National Express Corp, LLC since 1998, where she has touched the lives of those who worked with her every day. She was a supporter of the Special Olympics and participated in the 2014 Polar Plunge.
Additionally, she was an avid dog lover and a die-hard Ohio State football fan, but her greatest joy in life was being a mother and a “Mimi.”
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Shawna) Ward of Aurora and Andrew (Hannah) Ward of Plainfield, her mother Barbara, brother Jeff Brooks and nephew Chris Brooks, all of Russells Point, Ohio, her loving and long-time companion Scott McArdle of Wheaton, and his children Christine (Ryan) Zeman of Westmont and Greg McArdle of Lemont, grandchildren Chase, Mikayla and Luke, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her two furry babies, Maddie and Brutus.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandparents and furry babies, Bubba and Murphy.
A visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2016 at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 24021 Royal Worlington Dr. in Naperville from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral will be the following morning 10:30 at the funeral home. Pastor Mont Mitchell will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Urbana, Ohio on Tuesday, March 29 at 11:00am where she will be laid to rest next to her father.
