Sue Lane
Sue E. Lane, 95, of Mediapolis died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center in Mediapolis.
Born July 28, 1911, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Fred T. and Florence Blackford Eland. On March 6, 1937, she married J. Walter Lane in Mediapolis. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1998.
She was a graduate of Mediapolis High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield for two years. She taught school at Yarmouth before becoming a farmer's wife. She was a member of the Kingston Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women, first in Mediapolis and then in Kingston. She was a former Sunday school teacher and was active in the Farm Bureau Women, Republican Women and Nellie Walker Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a former 4-H leader. She enjoyed her garden and flowers.
Survivors include one son, Leonard Lane of Mediapolis; one daughter, Sandra Lord of Mediapolis; two grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Eland of Burlington and Calvin Eland of Eau Claire, Wis.; one sister, Elizabeth Baker of Salem, Ore.; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Visitation will begin at noon today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lane will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the Rev. Beth Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at Kossuth Cemetery at Mediapolis.
