HENDERSON- Sylvia Kaye Edwards, age 68, a resident of Henderson, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born on January 20, 1948 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Albert T. Edwards and Virginia Hester Edwards.

She was a 1966 graduate of Henderson High School. As a member of Clearview Church she was active in the music ministry. She loved to play and sing music and was involved in local bands. Sylvia was retired from the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce and was currently employed at Faulkner Grading and Landscaping and Quick Print. She was also an avid golfer and enjoyed volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of North Central North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23rd, at 11:00 AM at Clearview Church by Rev. Abidan Shah. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

She is survived by two sons, Christopher Ray Cheever (Suzanne) and Martin Albert Cheever both of Henderson; four grandchildren, Kylie Marie Cheever, Christopher Ray Cheever, Jr., Jack Hoyle Cheever and Mindy Jo Guffey; one great grandchild, Ayden Cole Waters; two sisters, Linda E. Twisdale (Dickie) of Henderson and Dawn A. Beattie (Ross) of Australia; two nieces, Dana (Kim) Aiken and Leigh Ann Twisdale; and a great niece Kaycee Pernell; and a great nephew, Brandon Pernell.
