Emmett Howell Carolan
Emmett H. "Hal" Carolan, 82, died Sunday at a local convalescent hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Carolan was born on March 26, 1910, in Carolan (Booneville, Logan County), Arkansas which his family settled in the mid-1800's. He and his wife, Ethel Wisley, were married there by the Baptist preacher who married both sets of parents.
The Carolans came to California in 1935, resided in San Anselmo, Marin County for many years. Mr. Carolan was self-employed in Marin County, and he worked in business management in Marin, the Lake Tahoe area, and Napa.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of Napa; his son, Kenneth of Novato; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Reginald "Reg".
A private memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date in Marin County. Arrangements are under the direction of Richard Pierce Funeral Service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, 1701 Nineteenth Ave., San Francisco, 94122, or a charity of the donor's choice.
