Lucy passed peacefully from this life and through the gates of Heaven the evening of Jan. 7 after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Lucy was born in Holly Springs, Arkansas. She moved to Minden in 1958 and married in 1960.

A wonderful neighbor to the community where she lived, Lucy was an accomplished seamstress and crafter. She won many blue ribbons at the state fair for her beautiful needlework. Lucy devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.

Lucy is survived by her four children (and spouses), Donna Wilson and husband, Johnny of Minden, Dawne Scott of Minden, Melvin R. Lewis Jr. and wife, Candy of Vivian and Dana Lewis also of Minden. She leaves 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Lucy is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Anna Key of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Shannon L. Sampson; her sister, Dorthea Gurnsey; and her parents, Ruby and Jimmie Key.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 211 Murrell Street, Minden.
