During World War II Lee worked with Glen L. Martin Aircraft building airplanes. He retired from construction and carpentry after many years as the owner of Conner Cabinet Shop. He was a member of Garden City Baptist Church and served as a past deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Howell Conner; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila C. and Danny W. Noell, Vinton; sons and daugthers-in-law, Kenneth L. and Janice Conner, Goodview, David L. and Paige Conner, Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Andy L. Conner, U.S. Navy, Japan, Christy L. Conner, Troutville, Timmy W. Noell, Salem, Randy L. Noell, Vinton, Matthew D. Conner, Roanoke, Caleb A. Conner, Roanoke, Courtney N. Conner, Goodview; great-grandsons, Joshua L. and Jonathan L. Conner, both of Japan; sisters, Irene C. Thacker, Troutville, Myrtle L. Conner, Nace, Cassie C. Lowe, Nace, Christine C. Gibson, Troutville, Mary C. Howell, Villamont; brother, W. Riley Conner, Cloverdale; several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel by the Rev. Don McCaskill with burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
